Everything Eboni

                                                              Discovering Everything Eboni

So I have had the Sessina Hair extensions and the QVR tracks for over a year, and it is time to buy new tracks lol

Not saying that I can't still re-use the hair if I provided some TLC to them, but that is not what this post is about. If you want washing and re-use techniques let me know!

So I will be the first to say that I can be impatient. When I order something I want it yesterday.

I went to the QVR hair website but I couldn't find the hair I had previously bought (or the advertisements), So I had to go another route.

Being a millennial what do I do? GOOGLE!

"4C sew in hair"

"4C track bundles"

"4C human hair tracks"

Can you believe the influx of BS advertisements?!?

The pictures online were from 4a/4b hair types, "Kinky Curly" they called it. But I am a black woman and I need KINKY COILY. God forbid I go out with two different hair textures like I did with my passport photo (lol)

When Google proved fruitless, I turned to social media. Specifically, Instagram.

I came across a stylist page that used one specific brand but upon further research found out that the company had some bad reviews that were convincing enough for me to continue my search.

I came across a picture of a woman who Had hair similar to mine when it was so picture and it turned out to be tracks to my surprise.

This picture had the link attached to it so I clicked it. It said Everything Eboni, but it took me to a page that said wigs by Eboni, so I thought that I had gone to the wrong page, so I went back and clicked it again and it was the right page.

I felt like my search was over. So I proceeded to purchase the tracks, and I believe it was exactly as described kinky, coily. Her pack comes in 3's, but I'm pretty sure it was because there was a promotion sale going on. But I'm not a 100% sure.

She also has a by now pay later option with Sezzle, which is what I thought was really cool.

May 16th,2024 Update:

I broke down and emailed them this morning regarding my order.  I already took out my hair because I got paint all over me from an event (I AM SELF CONSCIOUS, so I don't like going out with a hair scarf as a black woman) and I was hoping that I could get some type of update on my order (despite the order still being in the processing window)

I did notice that once I typed out my email there was no confirmation that it had been received.

May 20th, 2024

She didn't respond until today. but she did say 24-72 hours (I have no idea why her turnaround time is so long). So since it was a priority it should have been delivered on Sunday, but it ended up being scheduled for Monday which is fine.... (I work from home on Mondays) but I had a feeling something was wrong so I checked the tracking

I had a total hissy fit moment with her I am not going to lie, I took my hair out already, installed the weaving mesh, and braided down my edges. I had to cancel my hair appointment because the hair didn't arrive on Saturday.

May 26th,2024 Update

I absolutely LOVE the hair, it matches my hair when I come it out to a T! It didn't smell like a factory (I washed it anyway) the wefts were a little small but I was not disappointed when I was finished. I ordered 3 bundles ( once again I believe there was some kind of promotion going on)

Here is the Website if you are interested

Please dont judge me in the video lol I didnt mousse down my hair or did my edges in a couple days lol

Embracing the Beauty: Challenges and Triumphs of 4C Hair with Curl Science

Hair is an integral part of our identity and a canvas for self-expression. Among the diverse range of hair textures, 4C hair holds a unique place. 4C hair is characterized by tight coils and delicate strands, forming a dense and voluminous texture. While it possesses incredible beauty and versatility, it is not without its challenges. In this article, we will explore the triumphs and hurdles faced by those with 4C hair and highlight the significance of embracing and celebrating this natural hair type.

The Unique Beauty of 4C Hair:

4C hair is a testament to the remarkable diversity of human hair. It exhibits a stunning array of tightly coiled strands that beautifully frame the face and create a voluminous appearance. The density of 4C hair allows for breathtaking styles, such as afros, twist-outs, bantu knots, and updos that showcase its natural versatility. Additionally, the rich texture of 4C hair can absorb and reflect light in a way that creates a dazzling, lustrous effect.

Detangling and Shrinkage:

One of the primary challenges faced by individuals with 4C hair is detangling. Due to the tightly coiled nature of the strands, detangling can be time-consuming and require patience. Proper techniques and tools are essential to prevent unnecessary breakage and damage. Furthermore, 4C hair has a high propensity for shrinkage, meaning that its true length is often disguised. This can sometimes lead to frustration and a perception that the hair is not growing when, in fact, it is.

Moisture Retention:

4C hair has a natural tendency to be dry due to the structure of its coils. Retaining moisture becomes a crucial aspect of caring for this hair type. Moisturizing products, such as leave-in conditioners, oils, and butters, are essential to maintain the health and hydration of 4C hair. Consistent and diligent moisture retention practices are key to preventing breakage and promoting overall hair health.

Styling Versatility:

While 4C hair can present challenges, it is important to recognize the immense versatility it offers. With a little creativity and patience, individuals with 4C hair can explore an array of stunning hairstyles. From intricate braids to elegant updos, 4C hair can be styled in a multitude of ways. Embracing the uniqueness of 4C hair and experimenting with different styles is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Social and Cultural Perceptions:

In many societies, beauty standards have traditionally favored hair types that align with European ideals, leaving individuals with 4C hair feeling marginalized or unaccepted. This has led to a societal perception that natural 4C hair is "difficult" or "unprofessional," perpetuating stereotypes and biases. However, in recent years, there has been a positive shift in embracing natural hair, challenging these perceptions and celebrating the beauty of all hair types, including 4C hair.

Embracing and Celebrating 4C Hair:

The journey to embracing and celebrating 4C hair starts with self-acceptance and self-love. Recognizing the beauty and uniqueness of one's hair type can be transformative. Building a support network of individuals with similar hair types, seeking guidance from knowledgeable stylists, and utilizing online communities and resources are all valuable tools in navigating the challenges and celebrating the triumphs of 4C hair.

Having 4C hair comes with its unique set of challenges, from detangling and moisture retention to societal perceptions. However, it is essential to shift the narrative and celebrate the beauty and versatility of this hair type. Through self-acceptance, proper care, and embracing a supportive community, individuals with 4C hair can rewrite the narrative, empowering themselves and inspiring others to appreciate and cherish the remarkable diversity of natural hair.

This brings me to the whole point of this blog post! Curl Care by AFRICAN AMERICAN DOCTORS!

Black doctors are already few and far between where I am (yes I know they are growing in number in recent years) But I have never met one let alone two who specialize in healthy hair for African Americans.

Want to know more about your 4c hair and why it ISNT growing? then I would suggest you go to the Facebook page below and ask the sister doctors for help!

Sculpt Touch LLC

It seems that my phone must have overheard me talking about waist trainers because now I'm inundated with ads for them, particularly on social media.

I used to own a waist snatcher, but unfortunately, I misplaced the main belt piece. In need of a quick replacement, I picked up an inexpensive one from Five Below. However, it turned out to be too long for my torso, making it uncomfortable to wear under my clothes.

After putting up with this discomfort for about a month, I decided it was time to invest in a new one. Without a specific preference in mind, I ended up clicking on the first ad that caught my eye.

This particular company had numerous positive reviews, which swayed me to purchase from them instead of opting for another waist snatcher from a local store. However, I've run into a bit of a snag. Although they confirmed my order and notified me that it had been shipped on April 29th, the USPS tracking number they provided doesn’t seem to work. It either shows an error or indicates there’s no information available, leaving me unsure when, or if, my order will arrive.

I'll keep you updated on how this unfolds. Fingers crossed it gets resolved soon!

Once the product arrives, I hope to provide a more detailed review. I made the purchase with my PayPal account, so if there are any issues, I should be able to request a refund through them.
I sent them an email to support@sculpttouch.com on May 5th, 2024 because the USPS website says that it doesnt seem to be a USPS tracking number.

---------

May 7th Update. I got a response from the company who stated that the tracking wasn't registered with USPS, despite it saying it was USPS, they used something call PIGGY.

I got the package the same day.

I ordered a size Large according to their sizing chart, I am a seamstress in my spare time so I thought I had picked the right size for myself:

But maybe not? (I am going to re-measure myself) I had trouble zipping it up. (I pinched some of my skin with the zipper) and when I finally did get it zipped up and tied around, I had some blob overflow from my UPPER back, it  DID give me the hourglass shape though lol Just the Victorian one and not the one I was going for.

So I believe I ordered the wrong size for myself and will be starting the return process (by sending an email to the same mentioned above because they don't answer website messages or WhatsApp) asking them to exchange it for a bigger size.

Wish me Luck!

----

So May 14th, 2024 update!

I was able to get in contact with the company Sculpt Touch LLC about my exchange, and they said that I would have to pay 12.99 for restocking and 7.99 for shipping.

The item I bought was 49.99 + tax. So I will be basically paying half the cost of a replacement. Because their policy doesn't involve refunds, I don't have another choice beyond selling this one and getting the money back locally then, buying another one.

I will be paying the fee.
-----
May 20th, 2024 Update

I paid the fee on Friday the 17th but I didn't get a response back from them until today Monday May 20th,2024.

Yes, I understand they are shipping from China.

I will update you once I get the right size.

---
May 29th, Update!

I received the new waist trainer, yesterday. The XL was a little easier to put on than the L. (I didn't pinch my stomach fat on it at least). I went to a high-intensity workout with it on and sweated more than with my waist belt from Five Below.

The band is wider than the Waist Snatcher but shorter than the one from Five Below. I definitely feel the synching lol  I have done a total of two workouts with this thing on and I am a fan. I will update you all later with a progress post.

So I paid the restocking and shipping fee and when I asked them about what do I do with the old waist trainer they said that I could keep it. A little annoyed because I was under the impression that they were going to request a shipment back to them of the old waste trainer but they did not so I got a waste trainer for half the cost So I'm wondering if I could just buy another waste trainer and instead of paying 50 something dollars for it I would just pay 20 something dollars for it and get another size. I don't know how many times you can exchange something with this company.

I didn't have a bad experience with this company even though I really didn't want to pay the extra money to get it replaced I was hoping they might have a free exchange option, but you have to know who you're buying from and more than likely if you're buying from overseas that will not be the case.

If I do decide to by from them again I probably will jump to 3XL next time. I am 207 which would put me in the 4XL category but I don't know if I even need to go up that high. Once again I would just be mindful of the sizing.

Nail Wrap Chat : GITD

Last week was a rough SCG mani week for me. First, my Gold Reef mani that I loved had some nails lifting within 24 hours and I had to make repairs for the next 3 days. I just gave up and removed it to try the Kikilee SCG which was ALSO a fail. Sigh.....that one didn't last 24 hours and took me 2 hours to get it looking "decent.

ANYWAY......I didn't want to remove my accent (ohora partial I got from a destash) so I picked a Huizi set that I THOUGHT was similar to the SCG. I opened the package to realize it was a lighter pink with lavender undertones. I was honestly baffled cause I am not a huge fan of pink on me (fuchsia is the exception), and a lesser fan of light pinks.
After some research, realized this is a GITD set, which explains now WHY I bought it. I ADORE ANY color that is GITD. So I slapped these babies on and added a coat of High Fructose polish and think I can rock it for a week.
Still don't LOVE the color on my skin tone, but the GITD is giving me life!!
SN: I MIGHT overlay it midway .....we shall see.

Popilush Shaper Dresses

Okay, first and foremost, I am going to stop saying I don't normally do this because I'm starting to believe that this might be a trend, especially if I'm upset or super excited about a product. On that note, I am going to tell you about the Popilush shaper dresses that I keep seeing on the internet.

So I'm sure my phone has betrayed me and given away my search information, and that's why I keep getting advertisements for this dress because I was looking up shapewear maybe an hour before I started seeing these ads on Facebook and Instagram. So of course I did the stupid thing and clicked on the link to their page. When looking on the website, they come in about four different types of “lounge” dresses, but who wears this dress to lounge in? I have absolutely no idea because it has shapewear built into the dress to help smooth out the “imperfections of your body shape."

I had looked through the comments and reviews on the website and the Facebook post, and I didn't see any negative ones per se but I didn't see any positive ones either, so I decided to find out for myself.

Anyway, I decided to buy three forms of the dress: the spaghetti strap lounge dress, the spaghetti strap maxi dress, and the long sleeve maxi dress, all in size XL.  With the discount, I think I paid a total of $89, but I'm not sure if that included shipping for all 3 items. I think it took about 2 weeks to get here, but once again, don't quote me on that because I didn't really pay attention to the shipping time. I honestly forgot that I even bought the dresses until they showed up on my doorstep.

So the packaging wasn't amazing, but it was probably biodegradable and the cheapest option, so I'm not mad at them about that. They came in those little zipper things, like, you know, SKIMS has those zipper bags that they come in. I like using them for other projects, so I save them.

(Before reading any further, keep in mind that I am a seamstress in my freetime and the onset of what I call fast fashion has been the bane of my existence ever since its onset, if you don’t pay for quality material, you won't be able to maintain the product.)

At first touch, the material was really smooth, soft, and stretchy. I knew it was probably some type of mix of rayon and spandex, which for all intents and purposes is a cheaper material but allows for more flexibility. It is a material that has been more common in fast fashion trends such as SHEIN, Fashion Nova, and Wish.

The first one I tried on was the spaghetti strap midi dress. I say midi because I believe it was supposed to go down to your knees, but because of my body shape, it comes up a little shorter than my knees. I had never worn full body shapewear before, so I don't really know what I was expecting. I had to step into it instead of putting it over my head because of the shapewear, and it took about 2 minutes for me to adjust the shapewear underneath (the bra padding and mesh) to where it was "comfortable."

I put the word comfortable in quotations because, possibly due to my undiagnosed textophobia, I do not like the shaper material rubbing against my skin, nor do I like the sound of my thighs rubbing against the shaper material ( you know what sound I'm talking about). I also noticed that the shaper wasn't smoothing down my problem areas in the way that I would have liked. Another thing I realized about myself is that I do not like U- neckline cuts on myself. I prefer v-necks even when I'm wearing spaghetti straps, I feel like it accentuates my neckline and my chest area (which I constantly say is too small). But I DID like the length. So of course, without thinking, I decided to take a pair of my sewing scissors and cut out the mesh inner lining of the dress. When I tried it back on, I liked it more than I had previously, but I probably won't go out without a shirt and some leggings. The one I ordered was black, so it covers up my problem areas better even without the shaping material in the dress. But yes, it did defeat the purpose of the dress.

As you can assume, I cut out the shapewear in the other two dresses. But I probably should have just given them away, because now I am afraid that this is the type of material that gets prickly in the Florida sun.

I haven’t worn the outfits anywhere because it is labeled lounge-wear, so I am assuming that it means that you are supposed to wear them in the house, but I am sure you can wear them outside. I will probably update you on my experience later if I ever manage to wear these outfits outside.

At the end of the day, I'm probably not the best person to review this type of item because of my aforementioned textophobia, but like I said before, I kept seeing the commercials for this dress on my Newsfeed, and I finally gave in and went to see what the hype was about. It turns out the hype was about nothing and was a waste of $89. If anyone else has a different experience, feel free to share it with me, but currently, I am against these dresses, I am against fast fashion, and I don't believe it should be worth as much as I pay for it even with the discount. But in their defense, I did absolutely no research before buying their product.

And that is my total account of the Popilush Shaper Dress. So what should I review next month? I am not big on trends, so I will need suggestions! Send your review request to FembeautyBar@gmail.com, and I will make sure I do a full and honest review!
